Zarrar Said was born in Lahore and spent his childhood between Dubai and the US. His debut novel, Pureland, published by Harper Collins, drew immediate attention worldwide, deeming it a ""gripping read"" (Forbes) which was ""along the lines of Midnight's Children"" (The Hindu). Despite having his novel banned in his home country, Zarrar continues to champion freedom of speech and the written word through his involvement in various literary events around the world. Zarrar currently works and lives in New York City.
